Shannon Harwood
Shannon has a background in study/reading in Lived Experience philosophy, advocacy, and workforce development. She is currently employed with Equally Well as Project Lead for the development of the Equally Well Lived Experience Advocacy Framework, and Chairs the NMHCA (the Alliance) Regional and Remote Affinity Group.
Previous roles include Project Coordinator at the Tasmanian Centre for Mental Health Innovation, and Peer Practitioner with Tasmanian Public Health Services.
Her advocacy work includes advocating for human rights in mental health care, health equity, lifestyle mental health care, hyperbolic tapering principles, and lived experience workforce development.
Having gained from remission from bipolar disorder using a ketogenic diet Shannon also raises awareness of the emerging field of Metabolic psychiatry and in 2024 was an award recipient from Metabolic Mind.
Shannon is passionate about the importance of metabolic health for individuals facing mental and physical health challenges, and is an active member of the international Metabolic Collective and the Australasian Metabolic Health Society (AMHS).
