Ian James

Ian James is the Principal Aboriginal Mental Health Advisor, Mental Health Strategy and Planning and the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist, SA Health. A proud descendent of the First Peoples of the River Murray and Mallee Region and Southern Arrernte of Central Australia. Ian has worked in the mental health arena for the past 14 years in the Office of the Chief Psychiatrist (OCP) and mental Health Strategy and Planning. The OCP is a statutory role with powers and functions relating to the administration of the Mental Health Act 2009 and the standard of mental health care in South Australia.
