Ben’s Story

Getting on the bike helped Ben break through his mental health barrier.

When addressing my physical health and how I feel day-to-day exercise has been quite fulfilling. I am a keen cyclist, and I have been mountain biking multiple times with mentoring. I found my mental health a barrier to exercising during the mid afternoon to evening due to attacks I get whilst riding for extended periods.

I have developed a strategy to use a cycle trainer with one of my bikes connected to it so I can ride my bike with resistance on the back wheel located in my backyard to be the best alternative to an afternoon ride.

Ben’s Story Story

It builds my strength and posture, and I can go for as long and hard as I want while listening to music and encounter no problems. So, if you have a bike and you do not want to go to a gym like me there is the option of buying a cycle trainer which can be as cheap and practical or high-tech and expensive as you want to go.

I have found improvements in my cycling ability from using the cycle trainer when I have gone out on my bike. But from getting exercise and becoming fitter I able to withstand more physical activity by feeling calmer outside and during physical activities like cycling that would previously lead to my attacks triggering.

So, the cycle trainer has been a terrific way to exercise and improve my physical health and at the same time improve my mental health, showing the relationship between the two of them.
